For those of you wondering what exactly my flat looks like, this is the post for you! Here are some pictures of my flat. So please, let me conduct you on a tour of my temporary abode. We'll start in my room:
My bed with the nightstand (which in reality is a chair) next to it. Stripey! |
Window looking out at some of the other buildings in Hector Boece Court |
Desk and shelves. There's not enough room in the closet (and there is no dresser) so I had to put my shirts on the shelves. At least it's colorful. Also my wall of pictures. |
The door to my room and other side of the wall of pictures |
The closet/wardrobe |
Looking into the room from the hallway. Small but alright. |
| | | |
If we head out into the hallway, and look to the right there's the front door. |
If you were to look from the front door, down the hallway, this is what you would see. My room is the second on the left (it's actually the third, but in this photo you can't see the first door). |
All the way down the hallway and to the left is the small kitchen. |
It's the fridge that's somewhere between mini-fridge and full fridge. But definitely leaning in the direction of mini. The top is the fridge, the bottom is the freezer, it's kind of small for six people (the number of people living in the flat). |
Over here we have the sink |
The sink has evil taps. One is hot hot HOT water and the other is like the arctic is melting on your hands. How do you get warm water you ask? You don't. Solutions: Fill up the sink with half arctic half fire. Wear rubber gloves while doing the dishes to ensure your skin remains on your hands. Or have both taps on and move quickly between them. Culture Shock! |
The two mini stoves. They are demons. The one on the left, its burners don't work. The burners (or hobs as they are called here) on the one to the right work most of the time, except when the large one decides that it doesn't really feel like cooking right now, so it's just not going to. The ovens are small and take forever to get warm. Yup. Quality. |
Microwave, toaster, hot water kettle. All of which work surprisingly well, considering the rest of the things in this kitchen. |
If we leave the kitchen and head straight, to the left there are two closet toilets. |
Straight on from the kitchen is the room with the sinks and shower. There are three sinks... |
and one very small shower. |
And that's it. Not much too it really. There are five other single person rooms in the flat besides mind, so six in total. No living room/common room unfortunately. That would be nice. But as this is a very temporary living situation, it's fine.
On a different note, as I'm settling into my temporary home, my grandma is getting ready to move to her new home. So I'm wishing her luck and sending her lots of love, hoping that her move goes smoothly!
